California Department of Education State Funded Centers
These programs are for qualifying low-income families only. Children must be enrolled in these schools and meet state eligibility requirements for low-income families. Fees are assessed on a sliding scale. Parents must be working full-time outside the home and or enrolled in a vocational/educational program. We accept enrollments year-round as openings come available; however, placement on our waitlist is not based on how long one has been on the waitlist, but rather based on need as calculated based on the state-issued sliding scale.

School-Age Program: Serves children in Transitional Kindergarten (T-K) through 5th grade.
- We offer a safe, friendly, and engaging environment for your children. Communication is key, and we strive to maintain a positive relationship with each family, working together in the best interests of each child.
- Our daily schedule includes assistance with homework and a weekly-themed art, science, or specialized focus.
- Bret Harte Children's Center is based on the principles of respect, responsibility, and community through exploration and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment based on the interests of the children through a self-guided curriculum.

Preschool Program: Serves children 4 years old (priority) and 3 years old. Children *must* be completely potty trained.
School-Age Program: Serves children in Transitional Kindergarten (T-K) through 5th grade.

- Washington Children's Center Preschool uses the Creative Curriculum model which uses exploration and discovery as a way of learning, enabling children to develop confidence, creativity, and lifelong critical thinking skills.
- Washington Children's Center School-Age (TK-5) is based on the principles of respect, responsibility, and community through exploration and discovery in a supportive and enriching environment based on the interests of the children through a self-guided curriculum.
